The Shelton Challenge
The Shelton Challenge is a values-based leadership camp for young adults, encouraging honesty, diversity, integrity, compassion, and social responsibility.  This six-day summer experience is for all high school grade levels with a 3.0 or better GPA.  More information and the online application can be found here

NCSSM Summer Ventures in Science & Mathematics
Rising Juniors and Seniors interested in STEM programs are able to spend four weeks in the summer living on a college campus and conducting research in an area of interest.  This is a no-cost, state-funded program for academically talented NC students.  Programs are available at multiple UNC system campuses.  Applications are due January 31st. 

The Martha Guy Summer Institute for Future Business Leaders
Students interested in business can take advantage of this unique opportunity to get experience in business this summer at Appalachian State University.

Which students are well suited for MGSI?
We are seeking students who have a sincere interest in business as a college major and demonstrate leadership potential.  Some candidates have an entrepreneurial spirit, or have unique or extensive part-time work experience.  Interested students should demonstrate academic achievement. 
Students who embrace and appreciate new people, opportunities and experiences are ideal for MGSI.  They should also be well-prepared to be away from home and able to manage a demanding schedule.

The North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics
The North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics is the nation’s first public residential high school specializing in science, technology, engineering, and math.
